How it works

From your driveway to a registered charity in 48 hours.

Same booking flow, same pickup, same count. Only difference: at the end, the refund goes to your charity instead of your bank account.

01

Tap "Donate" in the app

When you book a pickup, pick "Donate refund" instead of e-transfer. Choose your charity from the list — Edmonton's Food Bank, Hope Mission, YESS, Stollery, and more.

02

We pick up & count as usual

Same pickup process. Same itemized count. Same 0% service fee on pickups over $10. Every dollar of refund goes to the charity you picked.

03

Charity gets the money + sends a receipt

We remit your refund to the charity. They issue the tax receipt directly to you, in your name, eligible for your annual taxes.

0% platform fee on donations. Every cent of your refund goes to the charity. Tax receipts come directly from them, in your name.

Donation FAQ

How donation works, in detail.

Do I get a tax receipt?
Yes. The charity issues the tax receipt directly to you — DepotDash doesn't touch the donation paperwork. Most charities email the receipt within a few weeks of receiving the donation. Receipts are eligible for your annual Canadian income tax return.
Does DepotDash take a cut of donated refunds?
No. Same 0% service fee on pickups over $10 whether you cash out or donate. Smaller pickups under $10 still get the 20% fee (since we still pay the driver), but the rest goes to the charity. The platform fee is the same either way.
Can I donate to a charity that isn't on your list?
If you want to add a registered Canadian charity to our list, email us at support@depot-dash.ca. As long as they're a registered charity with the CRA and willing to accept e-transfers, we can usually add them within a week.
Can I split a refund between donation and cashout?
Right now, no — each pickup goes 100% to one destination (your account, or one charity). But you can rotate pickup-to-pickup: donate one, cash out the next. Splitting is on the roadmap.
Can my school, team, or church receive donations?
Yes — that's our bottle drives product. Schools, sports teams, churches, leagues, scouts, and other non-profits get a unique fundraiser link. Supporters book pickups through your link, the totals roll up to your group, and you cash out when your drive ends. Zero service fee on registered fundraisers.

Skip the e-transfer. Skip the depot.

Pick a charity at booking. We collect, count, and remit. They send the tax receipt. You skip the lineup.

Charity names are used to identify donation-eligible organizations. DepotDash is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the listed charities unless explicitly stated. Please confirm the charity's current registration status with the CRA before claiming a tax credit. Spot something inaccurate? Email support@depot-dash.ca.
